Strong Weekend in Skellefteå Despite Late Drama

The opening round of the Norrland Cup (NC 1 & 2) took place this weekend in Skellefteå, where Ebba Mårtensson delivered an impressive performance across two intense race days.

NC 1 – Saturday
Saturday offered great weather conditions, and Ebba’s pace improved steadily throughout the day. After qualifying sixth, she worked her way forward in the heats and secured a strong second place in the superheat, giving her a solid starting position for the final.

The final started in the best possible way, as Ebba took the lead on the opening lap and controlled the race for the majority of the distance. However, with just two corners remaining before the finish, a driver behind attempted an overtake where there was no room, resulting in a collision. Although Ebba managed to continue and cross the finish line, she was classified in sixth place—far from what her performance deserved.

Following the disappointing end to the day, the team had significant work ahead to repair the kart, which had sustained considerable damage in the incident.

NC 2 – Sunday
Sunday brought much tougher conditions, with cold weather and rain dominating most of the day. Despite this, Ebba immediately showed strong pace, finishing second in both warm-up and qualifying.

She maintained a consistent performance throughout the heats, holding second place in each race. As the track dried for the superheat and final, Ebba once again demonstrated her speed, setting the fastest lap times in both races. Despite pushing for victory, she ultimately secured second place, concluding the weekend on a high note.

Considering Saturday’s setback and the challenging weather conditions on Sunday, the weekend can be seen as very positive, clearly showcasing both speed and potential.

Focus now shifts to the next round of the Norrland Cup in Örnsköldsvik in two weeks’ time.
